We are proud to be taking part in Water Safety Week 2016 which runs from the 6th to the 10th June and is focussed on raising awareness of the importance of being safe in and around the water this summer, both at home and abroad.
By participating in Water Safety Week we hope to continue our ongoing work to reduce drownings and near drownings by educating children, teenagers and adults about water safety, whether that means in the pool or on a family trip to a river or the sea.
Water Safety Week is partnered with Doing It For Dylan, a water safety campaign run by Beckie Ramsey who tragically lost her 13 year old son, Dylan, in an open water drowning incident in 2011 and has been campaigning on the issue ever since.
At Just Add Water we will be following special lesson plans for the week aimed at water safety which will emphasise everything from identifying dangers before they become serious to rescue techniques in the event they are needed – though hopefully they never will be!
Here are a few facts from the Swim Teachers Association which highlight why we take it so seriously:
We look forward to seeing you this week and if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch either online or in person!
